The crew @ TDSK has teamed up with TorontoJungle.com, creating a very special opportunity for one of you!

TDSK has always been nurturing the bedroom DJ and looking to give up and coming artists an opportunity to get out of the basement and into the DJ booth. TDSK is currently looking for a DJ who can showcase a groundbreaking set of skills, and a fresh new genre that stands out from the ordinary. As we all know in some circles, it’s not how good you are, it’s who you know. This will give one DJ a chance based purely on skill (as voted by your peers on TorontoJungle.com).

1) MIX SUBMISSIONS accepted until 12:00am, June 12 2009

2) VOTING will be run via poll, from June 13th - July 17th

3) WINNER will be decided July 17th

The contest entitles one winning DJ to:

-Opening time slot (one hour set), at TDSK’s Sativa Sound Sessions party on Fri. July 31st, 2009 at Club Absinthe in Hamilton, ON.
-VIP for 4 of your friends to come cheer you on as you make your TDSK debut

Rules and How to Enter:

Upload your mix to www.megaupload.com
Email your MegaUpload link to tdsk.dj.comp@gmail.com
All mixes must be 60 minutes in length.
All mixes must be recorded in @ least 192 kbps. MP3 FORMAT ONLY.
All mixes must have an accompanied track listing (includes artist/track/label).
Live components are encouraged, such as samples and one-of-a-kind materials.
One DJ per mix – NO back-to-back sets, NO three-way sets, etc.
One contest entry per DJ. (If you spin under more than one moniker, submit only one mix.)
No ‘do-overs’, or re-submissions for any reason.
You must be 19+ with valid photo ID, (same thing goes for the people on your guestlist).
Anyone caught being dishonest will be removed from the contest immediately.

Voting on TorontoJungle.com will take place in a separate contest post. DO NOT POST YOUR MIXES IN THIS OR ANY OTHER THREAD. Once all submissions have been received, TorontoJungle.com members will be able to vote in a poll to choose their favorite mix, and declare the winner of the TDSK and TorontoJungle.com Sativa Sound Sessions Contest.

no offense but it's still about who (or how many) you know.

based on skill solely would be to have a panel of 3 very skilled veterans (ie: lush or someone comparable) judging the mixes.

Good on you all for giving the chance but it seems like a lot of work (getting all your friends to sign up for the board and vote for you) for an opening slot.

first, this competition is not for strictly dnb/jungle music. the room at the event is setup for 'bassline' genres, like dubstep, dnb, grime, etc... all they're asking for is good, bass-heavy electronic music.

second, dj competitions setup & managed by internet polls are always about the hustle as much as they are about the skill of the DJ. Promoting yourself and being able to get 50 of your friends to sign up to a new dnb forum isn't a cake walk, there is work involved, and that kind of dedication is something that any successful DJ needs... plus the music, the board, and our 'scene' are all being exposed to potentially new audiences... hustling dnb is not a bad thing.

TDSK events are always super fun, the sound is always top notch, and they bring music for everyone... search facebook for 'TDSK' and you'll see a ton of pics from previous parties @ the venue! wikid vibes!!

fair enough dubcomm. just shouldn't claim that it's based "purely on skill". hustle and skill are quite different. also, suggesting that someone can win under that criteria (getting 50 friends to sign up to the forum and vote) means it's pretty much 95% based on hustle and skill really has nothing to do with this at all.
